Tax increase for Working Holiday visa holders\u2019 is under review<\/em><\/strong><\/h2><\/div>\n\n\n\n

So if you are on a working holiday visa in Australia, you may remember hearing news about having to pay more tax. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you didn\u2019t, then here is the low down. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The federal budget stated that from July 2016, anyone on a working holiday had to pay tax from the first dollar. They would be taxed 32.5 cents for every dollar, from the first dollar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, backpackers that earn under $18,200 pay no tax. They also receive benefits through the low-income tax offset. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Richard Colbeck is the current federal minister of tourism. He said that the prime minister agreed for him to review the tax increase and look for an alternative. He announced this to the Destination Australia conference in Sydney on Tuesday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also said that he had received lots of feedback to reverse the tax increase for people on a working holiday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
