We call this amount (Income Less Expenses),&nbsp;<strong>\u201ctaxable income\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-9e209cf0\"><h3 class=\"uagb-heading-text\"><strong>So what does this mean in real language?<\/strong><br><\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It means that the sum of your total income will be reduced and the tax will be calculated on a lower amount. This normally means a reduced calculation of tax and could mean more money back into your pocket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As you learned in the&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.studenttaxbuddy.com\/wp1\/project\/will-i-get-all-my-tax-back-in-my-first-year-in-oz\/\">Myth #1 Blog<\/a><\/strong>, if you&nbsp;<strong>earn under $18200<\/strong>&nbsp;then generally you will get all your tax back. This means that<strong>&nbsp;you don\u2019t need to declare any expenses<\/strong>&nbsp;as they will not affect your tax return.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you&nbsp;<strong>earn over $18200<\/strong>&nbsp;then generally you will only get part of your tax back. This is when&nbsp;<strong>expenses come in handy<\/strong>&nbsp;to reduce your tax. Of course, the expenses must be work related but we will save that list for another post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So there you have it!
